2005 tandem

This tandem features Magnum Opus lugs and curly stays. It was ordered in July 2005 and delivered in April 2006. The color scheme is dark green and cream, with chromed head lugs and stay ends. The components include a mostly Campag groupset (brakes, levers, hubs, mechs, seat pins), Cinelli bar and stem, TA crank set. Of particular note are the honey-colored Brooks saddles, handle bar bags, and handlebar tape with hand-windings at the end.

Tandem production in Tottenham was probably limited to a handful of frames during the late 1930s; of these, only three are known to have survived. David Miller reports that since tandem production was re-started after 1986, the total has been (probably) seven frames: two by Jacksons and five after 1993 by David.

Fixie pair


The newer track bike features MO iii lugs and modern compenents (Ultegra, Navigator Pista, etc.). The older bike is a 1962 Experto, currently set up as a fixie. Readers of a certain age will recognize the chain droop in the foto above. At that time, when derailleur gears were relatively new, it was commonly believed that a tight chain would create drag and slow the rider down. So chain droop was very in. The owner writes: "it was an art form to set the Campag jockey wheel to allow some bottom gear droop without a washing line of slack chain on the smaller sprockets of the block. Indeed, a lost art. ... Trumpy, the Jack Russell terrier, supervises all cycling departures from the house and anticpates keenly returning cyclists of all ages." This track frame features MO iii lugs with several extra touches. It is built from Columbus Genius oversize tubes. Campag Pista drivetrain is fitted, with an Ultegra front brake, and Cinelli bar and stem. The bike has just the right combination of modern and classic features.

Magnum Opus Anniversary






Magnum Opus Anniversary

This Magnum Opus was made in 2008 to fit 1970s components; it has a complete Campag Nuovo Record groupset fitted, with the exceptions of a newer headset bearing and 7-sp. block. The saddle is Brooks B73. Cinelli bar and stem. The spectacular finish is green and magenta metallic, with gold trim and plenty of chrome.
